Premium Japanese Hinomaru Mikan (Mandarin Orange)
“Hinomaru Mikan” is a masterpiece produced by Hinomaru Co-select, which has built a brand in Japan as a high-quality mandarin orange in terms of sugar content, acidity, and appearance. They are grown in the Hinomaru region, located along the coastline of Yawatahama City, Ehime Prefecture, which is one of Japan’s leading mandarin orange-producing regions lined with terraced fields and orchards. These fields face south which allows them to receive an abundance of sunlight and blessings from the Uwa Sea, allowing them to grow into high-quality mandarin oranges.
Hinomaru mandarin oranges are fully ripened to allow a high sugar content and exquisite balance of acidity and are measured using sensors to distinguish by color, scratches, size, and shape. They also have dense pulps with thin pericarp (white skin encasing the pulps), that results in a melting juicy quality. Only the best are labeled as “Gold Senryo” and are consistently rated the best in Japan in terms of taste and quality at Ota Market, Japan’s largest fruit and vegetable sales market.
