Japanese Yamanashi Kerushi Plum (550g approx, 4pcs punnet)
Yamanashi Prefecture is the only production area of Kerushi (Kelsey) plum in Japan, which is an ancient Japanese variety. Due to its appearance and difficult cultivation method, the amount produced is small, so it is a high-class fruit called “phantom plum”.
It has a distinctive green pointy appearance, and when cut, there is cavity near the center of the pulp which not a blemish, it’s a breed trait. When it is fully ripe, it will turn little yellow and feel a little elastic to the touch. Unlike most Japanese Plums, Kerushi plums are firm textured and almost entirely sweet, including the skin, hence it is not necessary to remove the skin before consuming.
