Japanese Kitarou Persimmon (X-Large)
Kitarou (輝太郎) is an original variety from Tottori prefecture that which was registered in March 2010. It is slightly large in size (usually weighing about 300g per piece), has a smooth attractive round shape and with sugar content is as high as 16 degrees on average. The plump fruit is soft for a sweet persimmon and has a smooth and moist texture.
If you slice it in half, you may observe black parts like eyeballs in the core. This is caused by a mass of “tannin” which is a kind of polyphenol, in cavities of fruit core with few or no seeds.
Due to the low production volume, it is only shipped during the short period from early October to mid-October. Don’t miss this new variety, which can be said to be the most advanced of the persimmon brand.
