Japanese Yawatahama Fujigaki Persimmon (Large)
Yawatahama City, Ehime Prefecture is said to be blessed with “three suns”; Sunlight, Reflection from the sea and Light reflected from stone walls. This results in the growth of delicious fruits due to the long hours of sunlight, which one of them is their specialty brand persimmon “Fujigaki'”, the largest persimmon in Japan. This persimmon can only be grown in Yawatahama and was named due its resemblance to the majestic Mt. Fuji. It is characterized by its soft seedless flesh and high sugar content, sweetness.
The texture of Fujigaki changes depending on when you eat it, so you can enjoy the flavor of your choice from firm to soft. When freshly harvested, it has a crunchy and mellow taste . As it ripens a little, the sweetness deepens and the texture becomes moist . When it ripens to the softness of its ripeness, you can enjoy the texture of a natural dessert . Some connoisseurs leave them until they are fully ripe, then freeze them and enjoy them like sorbet. There are 3 ways to enjoy it!
