Sato Nishiki (佐藤錦) is the most well-sought cherry variety during its season due to its pretty appearance and good balance of sweetness. It is first discovered in Yamagata, Year 1923, after cross-breeding  “Napoleon” and “Yellow Jade” varieties and later grew in popularity over the years, calling for widespread production in Japan.

It is said that growing cherries in Kochi was difficult but through years of dedication, they have developed a unique cultivation method that allows them to harvest some of the earliest seasonal cherries during the cooler months of February and March.
