Premium Japanese Konjiki Raou Golden Watermelon
$138.00
Hailing from Nanto Seed in Gunma prefecture after eight years of meticulous development, Konjiki Raou (金色羅皇) is a rare and luxurious yellow-fleshed watermelon that redefines summer indulgence. With an exceptionally high sugar content — often 15–16° Brix and, with championship specimens reaching an astounding 20.6° Brix — far exceeding the typical 12° benchmark for sweetness, it delivers intense sweetness that rivals and even surpasses its red-fleshed counterparts.
Beyond sweetness, Konjiki Raou captivates with a crisp, dense, and firm texture that doesn’t crumble easily — making it perfect for cut fruit presentations and gifting. Its refreshing flavor, unique to yellow-fleshed varieties, adds a cooling balance to the intense sugar level. The low seed count, with seeds in a striking reddish-brown hue, makes it easy and pleasant to enjoy.
Cultivated from early summer (May–August across Japan), Konjiki Raou is carefully left in the field approximately five days longer than red varieties to fully develop its rich flavor. Plus, it holds well on the shelf, retaining its texture and quality longer than usual. This rare watermelon is a testament to both flavor innovation and farming dedication — a true summer indulgence.
