Japanese Premium Grade Akizuki Pear (Large, 13.5% Brix High Sweetness)
Introducing Akizuki (あきずき), which is a cross between 3 different varieties, “Niitaka x Hosui ” x Kosui, available around mid-September. It inherits the reddish-brown skin & sweetness of Kosui, the juiciness of Hosui, and the longevity (shelf life) of Niitaka.
Akizuki has a flat and smooth appealing appearance, with flesh that is fine, dense and crispy. It has high sweetness level and a unique flavor, and is gaining popularity in recent years. Using optical sensor, it will be graded into different grades depending on sugar content, where 13% and above brix will be branded as the cream of the crop.
