Japanese Leclerc Western Pear (Jumbo)
[Winter Special]
Luxury and rare pear “General Le Clerc”. Pears, which have been cultivated since ancient Greek and Roman times, have been loved by people for a long time. In 1977 (Showa 52), seedlings were directly ordered from France and introduced to Japan by the Aomori Prefectural Upland Gardening Experiment Station. Since then, Aomori has been a producer of western pears such as Le Lectier, Le France and Leclerc and with Nambu City is the top producer for Leclerc in Japan.
Each pear is at least 400-450g each with green skin color which turns yellow with brown motted spots which developed over time when ripening. It’s flesh is dense, rich in juice, and has a smooth texture. It also has a pleasant mellowness, refreshing acidity in the sweetness, and excellent taste. They are usually available only for a short period between October to December, so try out while they are in season!
