Kinsho Melon (金将メロン) is a premium Japanese melon developed in 1968 in Nara Prefecture by crossing a native Yellow Makuwauri with a Spanish melon. Its signature golden skin and perfectly round shape set it apart visually, while its netless surface gives it a clean, refined appearance.
Inside, the Kinsho Melon boasts crisp white flesh with a dense yet juicy texture. With a high sugar content ranging from 16 to 18° Brix, it offers a satisfying sweetness balanced by a refreshing, clear flavor profile and gentle aroma. Its firm, crunchy bite makes it a distinctive alternative to typical soft-textured melons — a true showcase of refined Japanese fruit cultivation.
Occasionally, fine surface cracks may appear due to the melon being harvested at full ripeness, but these are natural and do not affect the fruit’s quality.
