Japanese Kikuchi Watermelon
You have never seen a watermelon characteristic as this before.
As high in water content as other types of watermelons, this fine-textured flesh variety, with thin rind (<5mm!!) provides a “more volume” content for your enjoyment. The high level sweetness (11 brix and above) is due to the fact that the day (hot) and night (cold) temperature difference is big in Kumamoto, hence sweetening watermelon. The crispy texture is also one characteristic of this delicious fruit!
It is available in season from April to May.
