Japanese Jutaro Mikan (Mandarin Orange)
$16.00–$155.00
Nishiura mikan, a specialty of eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, is grown in the Nishiura, Uchiura, and Shizuura areas of Numazu City, located at the northwestern tip of the Izu Peninsula. Among these varieties, the Jutaro Unshu was discovered in 1975 by Jutaro Yamada of Numazu City as a bud mutation of the Aoshima Unshu.
Boasting a high sugar content, a balanced balance of sweet and sour, and a rich flavor, these mandarins are harvested in December and then aged in a warehouse at a constant temperature and humidity for one to two months, bringing out their sweetness. These high-sugar, authentically stored mandarins are shipped annually between early February and mid-March.
