Kinpuku Suika is a new species of watermelon that was developed specially in hill region and exclusive in Fukui City. The name “Kinpuku” (Golden Fortune) is based on the golden color and the beautiful appearance of the watermelon. It is completely spherical and exhibits a lustrous sleek gold colour on the outside. On the inside, the fruit is a brilliant red colour. Generally, the fruit weighs roughly two kilograms. It also embodies the prayers for good health and happiness for the citizens of Fukui City and for economic growth for the city as a whole. Hence, these watermelons are recognised as Fukui “recommended products”. 

Ginpuku is developed to pair with Kinpuku watermelon as a gift set. It has the same freshness as Kinpuku with few seeds and plenty of water, but it has a strong sweetness but a refreshing taste, which is different from Kinpuku watermelon, and it is recommended to eat and compare. They are harvested from late June until mid-August, in Fukui Prefecture, Japan.
