Japanese Beni Sayaka Sakurabon (Cherry, 100g punnet)
Beni Sayaka is an early-maturing cherry that was selected and bred from the seedlings of “Seneka” x “Sato Nishiki” at the Yamagata Prefectural Horticultural Experiment Station in 1979 (Heisei 2). The size of Beni Sayaka is 5 to 7 g, which is the largest among the early-maturing species. The color of the pericarp is vermilion, and when it ripens, it turns purple-black. In terms of taste, it is said that it has a stronger acidity than “Sato Nishiki” but has a moderate sweetness and a good balance.
Sakuranbo season is available from May to July, and is one of the most-sought choice as gifts in Japan.
