A refined strawberry variety from Ehime Prefecture, Amaotome (あまおとめ) was officially registered in 2009 after carefully crossing Tochiotome and Saga Honoka. The result is an elegant fruit that carries the sweetness and beautiful fragrance of its celebrated lineage. Soft, aromatic, and luxuriously juicy.

Unlike typical varieties, Amaotome develops its colour slowly. In Ehime’s warm climate and abundant sunshine, growers use reflective mirror mulch to ensure the fruit blushes evenly to its underside, achieving a radiant, uniform red.

To further enhance sweetness and quality, the strawberries are cultivated using a traditional cold hardening method. By intentionally exposing the plants to winter chill, the fruit naturally concentrates its sugars and minerals. The result is deeper sweetness, fuller flavour, and a more refined finish.
