    [Winter Special]

Le Lectiers are considered a delicacy, as they are more difficult to cultivate than other western varieties and small quantity yields. They are cultivated mostly in Niigata, however has expanded to other regions such as in Nagano Prefecture, where the natural environment of Matsukawa Town overlooks the Southern Alps from the foot of the Central Alps. This area is blessed with a perfect growing environment, as it is located on a slope facing south which has big temperature difference between day and night, enhancing the quality and sweetness of the fruits.

These pears are known for their superior fragrance with hint of banana and smooth texture, with a high level of sweetness. They are picked in late October and are ready to eat by December after they soften and turn fully yellow.

They are sweet and not quite as crisp as an apple, more like the texture of good melon, and softer to a gelatinous mush when fully ripe.
