Japanese Irago Suishou Buntan (Crystal Pomelo, Small)

Crystal pomelo (水晶文旦) is a specialty from Kochi & Aichi prefecture, and usually available at the start of Autumn. It is mainly cultivated in a greenhouse and has a very low production volume.

It features a unique refreshing aroma and a crisp texture. When eating one grain, the small, crispy pulp pops and the abundant juice immediately spreads in your mouth.  It has a good taste with sourness and sweetness, with a sugar content of 14 to 15 degrees. It is very similar to Tosa Pomelo (土佐文旦), but there are fewer seeds and much fuller pulps. Compared to Tosa Pomelo, which requires to ripen to full yellow, Crystal pomelo are fully sweetened and ready to be consumed even when the outer skin is green.
