Daikon is a long white Japanese radish, which has a crunchy texture and a light peppery and sweet taste. From pickles to salad and soups to simmered dishes, it’s widely used in Japanese cooking. Raw daikon radish has a sweet and lightly spicy flavor, and it tends to be milder than a peppery red radish. The flesh is very crunchy and juicy. Once cooked, daikon tastes mellow and sweet and becomes tender, similar to a cooked turnip.
Storage: Wrap the Japanese radish with kitchen paper towel or newspaper and then with a sheet of cling wrap. Keep it upright in the fridge, they will keep for about 2 weeks.
