秋映(あきばえ)Akibae is a distinctive apple variety from Nagano, Japan, known for its deep crimson to almost black-red skin when fully matured. A cross between Senshu and Tsugaru, it has firm, crisp flesh with plenty of juice and a fragrant apple aroma.
Its flavour has a well-balanced sweetness with a refreshing, slightly pronounced acidity, giving it a fuller and more classic apple taste. The name “Akibae” means “an apple that looks beautiful in autumn”, reflecting its striking dark-red colour.
