A distinctive Japanese watermelon named for its deep, almost black-green rind, ミニ黒太陽 (Mini Eclipse) develops a subtle striped pattern beneath its dark exterior. Its rind is notably thick and durable, while the compact fruits typically weigh around 1.2 to 2.5kg, with some reaching up to 3kg.

Inside, the bright red flesh is firm, crisp and densely textured, with a refreshing juiciness and strong natural sweetness. The fruit can reach around 12° Brix, giving it a pronounced sweetness balanced by its clean, refreshing character. Dark seeds scattered throughout the vivid red flesh create a striking contrast, while its firm texture also gives the fruit good keeping quality.
