Japanese Ajipika Mikan (Mandarin Orange)
Ajipika mikans, which are grown in stone-terraced fields along the coastline, are a popular product with high sugar content, thin skin, and just the right amount of acidity. In the Kawakami district of Ehime Prefecture, the mandarin-flavored Ajipika mandarin from the Nishiuwa region, which is a famous mandarin-producing area, won the highest award, the Emperor’s Cup, in 1996.
Kawakami Ajipika mikans are grown with plenty of sunlight from the sky, sea, and stone walls, and are carefully selected to meet selection criteria such as sugar content and shape. Because the fruit is harvested in the same way, it has an excellent balance of sweetness and acidity. The fruit is sorted using an optical sensor based on a sugar content of 12 degrees, and its beautiful appearance makes it recommended as a gift.
