Japanese Queen Splash Mikan (Mandarin Orange)

Ehime Queen Splash is the highest grade of Kanpei, an original variety from Ehime Prefecture. Kanpei (甘平) is a new variety born from Ponkan (ポンカン), which has a unique sweetness, and Nishinoka (西の香), which has a rich juicy content. This is a limited variety that was just registered in 2007 and is only allowed to be cultivated in Ehime prefecture. Furthermore, it is also extremely difficult to cultivate. Hence, Kanpei is an expensive variety that only ships about 10% of the total production.

Only those of the highest quality Kanpei that meet these requirements: High sugar content of 13 degrees or higher, Excellent shape and color, Thin skin and a Fruit size of 2L to 4L, can be labelled under “Ehime Queen Splash”. The origin of the name is [Queen], which expresses the dignity of an adult woman , and [Splash], which expresses the image of the unique popping texture of the pulp and rich juicy content.

Only 0.3% of the total production of “Kanpei” can be called “Ehime Queen Splash” after a rigorous selection, which makes it exceptional.
